Lambeth Conference 2008

For the last year Affinity Events have been working with the Lambeth Conference team to plan the 2008 event, which brought together Bishops from around the world. The event (which takes place every ten years) saw 1,600 Bishops, Spouses and members of the Anglican Church come together for a three week conference at the University of Kent at Canterbury.

I worked with Affinity to produce all health & safety paperwork, risk assessments and event planning documents, as well as working with the various infrastructure contractors to make sure that everything was in the right place at the right time (and was collected again). The event received much high profile media coverage, from extensive reports on the Times website to the coverage on the BBC.

The main plenary venue was a big top, which was fully seated, carpeted and rigged to ensure that all the delegates could see and hear all of the sessions which took place there. As well as this there were other venues for the Spouses Conference and the MarketPlace.
As well as pre-production work, I spent three weeks on site at the event, looking after issues as they arose and supporting the event director and conference manager throughout the entire event site.
